Hi All,
I am having an issue when playing media on an Nvidia Shield, which is LAN connected via ethernet. The server is a Windows 10 PC with plenty of grunt. Files are stored on a local HDD on that server (no NAS). All connected to the same switch via cables. No WiFi involved.
I can play files flawlessley from a friends Plex server in another city, but anything locally and I get the usual network speed error.
I have searched the FAQ’s and found a few similar threads, but none of the fixes in these seem to help.
I seem to get a big spike in bandwidth when I start watching a title, and it starts plying fine with a bit of the progress bar loading out in front of the play location as expected. Then the bandwidth just flat-lines and never comes back up. Once the play point reaches the point it buffered out to, it just stopped and sits there for ages. It will start playing again for a few more seconds, then stop again, and repeat.
So its looking like the network allows an initial spike of throughput, then chokes it up.
Below is what i have tried so far:
- Update both service client and app to latest versions
- Defined LAN IP range in the network server section
- Confirmed the payer is being seen as “Local” in the Plex server
- Treat LAN IP as WAN bandwidth is checked
Below is a pic of the bandwidth graph.
Any ideas of what to try?
