I was using a semi recent gaming PC as my Plex server. I believe it was using the Nvidia card for hardware transcoding. I passed that pc onto my son and got an i3 9100 for my Plex box. It had the latest quick sync so I figured I would be in great shape. When transcoding HEVC files I’m seeing the iGPU have about 20% usage for video decoding in task manager. The CPU is showing pretty high usage. 50% consistently, and I’m getting fairly regular stutters when watching. Shouldn’t the iGPU be utilizing quick sync to encode the video as well? I was expecting pretty low utilization on the CPU cores. Hardware transcoding is on, and Plex shows both encode and decode are hardware. Plex server is fully up to date on the Plex Pass channel.
