Hello,
There is one thing which is annoying me very much. If I want to rewatch a tv show, I set the whole tv show to unwatched. But if I do this, then the play history is cleared. So I can‘t see any more when I have showed the show before.
It would be nice if the history will never cleared.
What I’ve usually done instead of the complicated (but working) method used by dokuro in the thread he linked to, is to make a playlist of a show I’ve previously watched. And re-watch it from there.
Because this is a very annoying bug (data loss), please fix it in the next server update.
For remember, move this topic to the top.
Love your optimism. I raised this issue in March 2022 and your hoping for it to be fixed in the next server update
Good Luck !
I’ll keep moving it up daily until it’s fixed.
I personally consider this a feature, not a bug

Really ? You believe its acceptable that when someone changes something they watched previously with all the history from when they watched it it should be deleted when they decide to re watch it and move it to unwatched ?
I’m shocked this has not been fixed and very quickly fixed. It’s pure data loss and any kinda of data loss is unacceptable IMO.
Moreover, even if you delete something you have watched from plex and empty the trash it does not delete the watch history. The change from watched to unwatched does. If its a feature, its a crazy one

My comment was somewhat tongue-in-cheek but, yes, I believe in general there should be a means by which watch history can be completely cleared. It seems to me that marking something as “unwatched” is as good a way as any to do so.
Logically, to my mind, when something has been marked as unwatched its history should go with it; otherwise, it would not be unwatched (how could it be, with a lingering watch history?). I understand that is counter to how folks generally use the feature (to allow episodes to be queued again for continue watching). But continuing down this path would entail a larger discussion surrounding how continue watching works, in which I have no desire to engage.
I do understand that this is undesired behavior for some. However, to your point, I actually consider it more of a bug that watch history is maintained when items are completely deleted, if I’m being completely honest. As of right now, there is no way to entirely delete watch history short of manual database modification or deleting a library.
So please consider my previous comment, and this one, as musings on the way different folks use the “mark as unwatched” feature in Plex. What does “unwatched” really mean, anyway?
As an FYI… You can use dash to remove watch history without any direct database edits. It’s however limited to one entry at a time but still can be done.
I did not know that, thank you very much for the heads-up.
If I set a tv show to unwatch, then only, I want to rewatch this show and not for deleting the history. It isa bug when this data is suddently gone.

I‘ve seen that the last server beta update didn‘t fixed this bug. Why?
I‘ve seen there is a new server update.
But… also in this version … it isn‘t fixed.
Why???
Guys. We don‘t talking about a small bug. We are talking about data loss. Please! In the next update. It should be fixed.
Please don‘t delete my posts „Move to top“. It is important that this thread is always on the top because it describes a big bug from plex and should fix very fast. We are speaking from data loss.
Hope we will get the fix with the next update
