Home Screen collection keeps reshuffling (triggered by Analyze and Scans?)

The video is from Infuse. I, however, am also seeing this on the Plex Web but not on the Plex Mobile app. I can take a video of it happening, but that link already shows it.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Make a collection.
  2. Set the collection to be sorted randomly.
  3. Verify the collection poster has the ugly purple gear icon on the top right.
  4. Set the collection to be ‘Visible’ on Home.
  5. Verify that the collection is on the home screen.
  6. Refresh the home screen to verify that it is sorted randomly on each refresh.
  7. Analyze a movie (Click the 3 dots on any movie).
  8. Watch as it triggers a reshuffle of all collections on the home page that is set to ‘Randomly’.

This is probably not an easy fix, so I just wanted to log it in case others are having this problem.

This has been reported before. Based on my personal experience, it seems the new-experience apps cache the content of randomly sorted published collections for a longer time.

Yes thankfully the new mobile apps don’t seem to have this problem. I guess we’ll just have to wait until that code comes in to the web version. It’s annoying but it’s livable.

I have a hub of „random recommendations“ (based on an overly complicated filter). I liked how it changed every time I navigated to the hub… made the randomness even less persistent.
