Home screen takes a LONG time to load

For quite a while now Plex takes at least 10 to 30 seconds to load the home screen when opening. I have the gut feeling it is because I have two remote server connections and it is apparently feeling the need to connect to them prior to loading. I don’t remember this happening in the past. Someone else made a thread about this last fall but it went unanswered.

Here is a screen record from my android phone but it does the same on our rokus. On the roku, it is annoying enough that we just go to another folder (tv shows or movies) because they will load properly.

The video link below shows up in Firefox on Android for me but not for Firefox or Chrome in Windows. Maybe it is an adblocker or something. I took off the dropbox part of the address below. Just add it prior to the jibberish below.

Happens in Firefox on PC as well.

Happens both at home and remotely.

Ideally the home screen should be able to load without having to wait for the server to connect to remote servers.

So is the answer that I have to choose either of the following?

  1. Disconnect permanently from other friend’s servers.
  2. Be forced to wait ~30 seconds every time I open Plex.

Mine has been doing this too. Very unfortunate and frustrating.

Are you connected to other remote servers? If so, how many? I don’t want to leave those servers just to test if it would help to speed it up as I want to maintain access to them. I assume this isn’t happening to everyone or else there would be more posts about it.

I am connected to the remote servers. It’s weird because it didn’t used to take so long to load, I don’t notice it on xbox or my TV, just my phone.

Interesting. What tv? Because I notice it on Roku ultra, Android phone and Android Fire stick, as well as the new HTPC windows app (though it is a bit faster on that). I haven’t tried it on my LG TV so I will later.
