Home user "language" setting useless

Hello,

I got me a free month of PlexPass for the olympics and I’m trying the feature I wanted the most: home users.

My goal is to put my wife’s account in Japanese and keep mine in English. By account I mean not only subtitle language but also the interface language.

So, I create an account for her, log into it and see a “language” setting under Account. I set it to Japanese and… nothing. I restart the web app, still nothing.

A few Google searches later, I found that to change the language of the web app, I have to go to settings -> web and change it there but the issue is that this setting only works for the current session and disregards accounts completely. If I switch to Japanese there, it’s Japanese for everybody.

So I guess I have two questions:

  1. what is the language setting supposed to do ?
  2. How to achieve Netflix-like per-account interface language ? If I switch to her account, everything should be Japanese and if I switch back, everything should the English again.

I tried with the SamsumgTV app and the Android App, they both ignore the “language” setting too.

language settings are so far only focusing on the playback language for audio and subtitles.
UI and metadata are defined by the server admin for the entire server (UI) and per library (metadata).

The settings in “Audio & Subtitle settings” are of course for playback language for audio and subtitles, as you said:

However, you have ANOTHER language setting in “Account”, and that one looks to be doing absolutely nothing:
