Home videos do not have a release date

I am managing and streaming home videos that we shot ourselves with Plex in one library. This library is configured as following:

  • Type: Other videos
  • Scanner: Plex Video Files
  • Agent: Plex Personal Media

With that, I noticed that each time when I scan to import new videos, the videos had initially a correct release date (the captured date) and after a few seconds the release date was gone.

Manually analyse such a video will reset the release date correctly. And manually Refresh Metadata will clear the release date again.

This seems to be a bug that:

  1. After importing a video
  2. An initial analysis sets the release date
  3. A following metadata generation step erases the release date incorrectly

This issue is not unique to a particular server. I tried the Mac, Windows and Synology servers and all have this problem.
