I’m having the same issue as mentioned in this post. Metadata Date issue, Video files (Personal Media Shows)
Plex will initially set the release date as the date added. If I do something to cause a full refresh(Analyze or change the agent order) Plex will correctly pick up the release date. Simply clicking Refresh Metadata isn’t enough for this to happen.
It appears this is a long outstanding bug. I’m on 1.30.1.6497 but the thread I referenced is from 2020.
Some more information. I’m not sure if it’s a race condition or something else. I just added 8 more files with varying release dates.
4 of them show today’s date as the release date.
3 of them show the correct release date.
1 of them didn’t even load any metadata but when refreshed show the correct release date.
The not loading any metadata has happened a couple times so far but it’s obvious and quickly solved with a refresh.
And things continue to be weird. In the time since my last post, all 8 files have now changed to show the correct release date.
I didn’t do anything except watch some different videos and the server maintenance window isn’t for some time.
Is no one else having this issue? It continues to be random whether I will end up with the correct release date or today’s date.
