Hey,
as Apple now allows us to use a streaming service other than Apple Music on the Homepod, are there any plans for us to use Plexamp as standard in the future?
Not to be negative Nancy but they have already stated they have no plans to support AirPlay2 low-latency so them trying to get on this would be even a farther stretch, but they got that repeat button though.
it’s actually not true that we have no plans around AirPlay2 low-latency; it’s just not a super high priority, but we’ll definitely look into it in the future.
in terms of the HomePod, those integrations usually involve a “cloud catalog” which means they can assimilate the items into their search database for voice commands. that is easy for a service like Spotify, but when you have millions of different catalogs (one for each user) it becomes hard at best and impractical at worst.
Um, this would suggest at least to me that there are no plans, this was a reply to me on twitter.
"AirPlay 2 works fine, we just don’t do the fancy low-latency thing.

Doesn’t matter I guess, you already won me over with the player and tidal integration but don’t see there being a point to the hi-fi subscription.
Thanks for your fast answer. I didn’t know that it works that way. I just thought, that Siri just uses the local database and searches the for results (like a normal search I would do in the app) or plays my highest rated tracks when i say “Play my favourite tracks.”.
wasn’t trying to imply that we didn’t want fancy stuff at some point ![]()
i’m not positive either.
