Hello everyone! So I’m currently in the hospital (Yeah…Merry Christmas to me ) and probably will be here for quite a while. For some reason, I cannot access my plex content using the hospital’s wifi and I’m trying to figure out (or find out if it can be figured out) as to why. I can remotely access my plex content via my phone or via connecting my iPad to my phone’s hotspot without issue. (I would just utilize that option, but it would murder my data). Guess I’m just wondering is it possible that the hospital has something that is specifically blocking Plex.
For clarification, I can log into the plex site on my laptop on their wifi without issue. It’s just that the server/its content never actually loads/shows. (Photo attached for reference)
The hospital could be blocking traffic on „unusual ports“, similar to what certain routers do when establishing a guest network / managing guest network access.
If you have the opportunity, you could try changing your remote access setup to use a common port, e.g. 80 or 8080 (assuming you’re not hosting some regular websites from your home network).
Hospitals cap or block WiFi Traffic. My wife spent time in hospital and the best way is to use a cellular data plan and limit data quality on the iPad your using with the hotspot. My wife used 50Gb of data in 2 weeks with heavy consumption. I also gave her a backup of 1TB of her favourite shows on a USB C Samsung SSD T7.
