How can I add my .iso movie file to the media server?

Greetings, I’m new to the PLEX Media Server and seem to like it so far, and now that I have some of my .mkv movies added I am enjoying it. What I ran across is that I can’t seem to find any information on adding my .iso movies to the same folder. An example movie is ‘Bad Boys (1983)’. I have it in the same folder on my PC as the .mkv files but it doesn’t get pulled into the PLEX folder. I’ll keep digging for a solution, but maybe someone can help?. Thanks

Plex does not support .iso or other such image files (Reference: ISO, IMG, and Video_TS Movie files).

Rip the iso using MakeMKV, then import the MKV file into Plex. You can also transcode it with Handbrake or similar tools if needed.

See Converting ISO, Video_TS, and Other Disk Image Formats for additional information.

You should follow Plex’s naming and organization guidelines, especially if you will be adding TV shows. Plex will do a better job of matching with the online databases and downloading metadata if you follow the guidelines. Plex is especially picky about TV show organization. Consider the guidelines as mandatory for TV shows.

See Media Preparation Guidelines for additional information.

Movie example

/Movies
   /Avatar (2009)
      Avatar (2009).mkv

TV show example

/TV Shows

         Grey's Anatomy - s01e02 - The First Cut is the Deepest.avi

Thanks for the fast response. Had that feeling, so will try and convert to .mkv. Thanks

I’m only adding movies to PLEX and not sure I want to add TV shows right now, but thanks for letting me about the separate folders.
