I just updated my Plex Pass Server (DVR version) to 1.4.3.3433 that was dated March 1.
Now the background on EVERYTHING is a bright grey. I find that very unpleasant and annoying.
I need to have the very dark background. My eyes are extremely light sensitive and it’s very uncomfortable for me.
Please tell me there is a secret setting somewhere so I can toggle it back to a dark background.
Bloody hell. You must be kidding. What a monumentally BAD design concept.
The bright grey is just the worst thing ever. That you can not change it though, maybe that’s even worse.
I hope someone comes to their senses and fixes this. This is intolerable.
Here is the difference between yesterday and today.
The “fix” doesn’t help me, I use only Safari on MacOS Sierra. I looked up the plugin and it only works for Mozilla and Chrome. I don’t use either of those browsers.
edit: I found a version that supposedly works but, it doesn’t.t
Here’s another reason I strongly dislike (actually the word would be HATE) this new look, there is not enough contrast between text and the background. It’s really hard on my eyes to read it, I’m farsighted in addition to being very light sensitive.
I live in the dark, for me a 1watt nightlight is as good as a 100watt bulb for anyone else. Bright lights overload my vision. The white text on the bright background is truly awful and shows a total lack of consideration for people with visual difficulties.
I really grinds my gears that so many systems and devices offer no compromise at all, it’s either “Our way or no way, period.” and that is flat out RUDE. It used to be that places had to put braille signs up for people but I guess in this Brave New World that’s all history now. Have they already repealed the Americans with Disabilities Act yet?
Please allow us an option to revert back to the old black setting. While i dont really like the black setting its way way better then what happened now this is really hurting my eyes. Maybe give us a few simple options ?
*/ edit */ well when you stare for awhile at it you do get used to it and are reminded that the black black (or grey what some call it) isn’t that nice. though an option would be nice.
I’m with the OP on disliking the gray (as well as the lack of breadcrumbs above the show/movie after going into it to allow you to go back as if I am in the web interface then its to go around fixing metadata things on the server rather than dumbly watching something which this update seems to be a step towards)

@“MovieFan.Plex” Will there be an official option for that?
Plex is looking at possibly allowing skins for certain clients in the future, but I have no details.

This is a new release of Plex Web. There are still a few changes going on. Once all the design aspects are further along, it may be possible to add options or “skins” as I mentioned above, but this will take time. In the meantime, if you would like help customizing Web using Stylish, just let me know your thoughts.

Frankly I would question with this v3 web interface whether there should be a web interface for the server aspects of PMS and a separate view for server media management. The update isn’t to bad (other than the bright gray) for acting as a web client but for actually managing media within the server it seems to have gone out of its way to hide the options in order to do this.
Basically there should be two different “views”, web client and media management and these should be optimised different ways.

What options are hidden? A few functions were moved. Mainly if an action involved the entire library, it is now in the … menu next to the library name. This way you can perform that action on the entire library without needing to back out to the main page.
I absolutely love the new look. It’s about time plex web got a modern facelift and away from those old boring solid dark colours. Of course not everybody is the same and that’s understandable so allowing an option if needed would be best for everyone.
