How can I stop my PS4 from showing a buffering sequence when it isn't buffering?

I consistently get three dots on the screen when watching movies with Plex. This only happens on the PS4. I use my XB1, HTPC, and Roku and none have this issue. It isn’t buffering because it’s playing without hiccups and it’s almost consistent in frequency (about 5 minutes) between times it displays on the screen, no matter the quality.

–The screen saver has been disabled, this is consistent across qualities , and has happened with multiple videos.
–All devices (PS4, Server PC, HTPC, and XB1), excluding the Roku, are hardwired to a gigabit switch using shielded CAT5E, max cable length at only 5m and fluked for quality.
–Port forwarding is enabled.

Can anyone tell me why this is happening? I don’t like to keep my PS4 controller on because of that stupid bright blue light, but it’s my favorite system to use…so “use one of the other options” isn’t what I’m looking for.

Yes, it’s the same to me. I have to pause and unpause the video to make the three dots disappear.

Can you do the following,

  • Enable Media server logging in PS4 Settings> Privacy> Log to Media Server
  • Play something until you see the buffering
  • Wait a few seconds
  • Stop the playback
  • Post or PM me your server logs

We just released an update 2.10.4, which should address this issue.
