Recent buffering issues.

Hello, I got my PS4 last December and had been using it (and the Plex app) to watch movies and TV shows perfectly until this December.

All of a sudden, every and any video I play will eventually stop for a couple of seconds (three orange dots) and then continue, like it’s buffering. The longer I’ve been watching the video, the more frequently it occurs.

This is my setup:

  • Plex Media Server is installed on a MacBook Pro (Retina) with 16gb ram and 2.7ghz i7 processor.
  • My media libraries are on 2 external hard drives connected to a USB 3.0 hub (1TB WD My Passport and 6TB WD My Book).
  • The MacBook is upstairs and is connected via Cat6E to a Belkin Gigabit ethernet switch, which is downstairs.
  • The PS4 is downstairs, also connected to the ethernet switch via Cat6E.

Tonight I tried to watch a 4GB mkv file (H264 video with a DD5.1 track) and it lasted about an hour before buffering became too frequent and I had to switch the PS4 off.

This will happen with any file, even a 20 minute, 800mb TV show.

How can I upload a log file for you guys to see?

As an update, if I try any files via the Plex web app, they work perfectly, even a >30GB .mkv

I’m fine using the web browser on the PS4 for now but would be cool to use the app as it just looks better.

That’s failing too…even if I change streaming settings to 8mpbs 1080p…

I share my PLEX Library with two friends who have a PS4. Always have a buffering issue.

With a SmartTV or android box not problem.
