How do I block unauthorized users

There are users accessing my Plex server that I did not authorize. Nor do I see their devices listed. How can I block this unauthorized access to my server?

Server platform?
Is your server running in your home network or in a datacenter?
Is your home network shared with other homes in your block/house?
How did you notice this unauthorized access?

My server is running on my home network.
It is not shared with neighbors. I use Plex Pass to grant access to friends only.
I noticed that usernames not in my friend list were watching movies. I can see the user name and I think the device name when I select STATUS. The devices are also not displace in the DEVICE option.

Is your server running on FreeBSD or FreeNAS?

Then you should follow the link I set above.

Also consider if your credentials were compromised by a plex hack like mine were at one time. I was having random usernames watching my content. After changing password and clearing all device history as well as adding a localhost entry on devices allowed access without authorization did the unauthorized access stop.

There is a wrbsite out there that can take your email address and tell you what services were hacked and if your credentials were compromised. I do not have a copy of this link, but im sure you can find it somewhere here in this forum.

I have unauthorized users showing up on my home server, which is running on a QNAP NAS, and they’re showing up as “real” users, but I can tell from talking to those users, and from the IP addresses that they are not who they appear to be.

And note that I do want my server to be available to my friends outside of my network, but I need them to be properly logged in, and I now have multiple examples where this isn’t true (and multiple userIDs).

Did you set up a ‘reverse proxy’?

How many network connections do you have?

Did you set up any other ‘remote access’ solution on your Server/NAS?

I did not setup reverse proxy.

I have one network connection, FTTH (cincinnati bell fioptics).

I do not have any remote access tools installed on the NAS (I do run Teamviewer on other servers in the network).
