I have a video playlist, and want to replay the same video several times during the duration of the playlist. How can I have a duplicate video in the playlist more than once? Plex is too smart in that it detects the video is the same and only lets me add it once. Even if I give it a different name. Please help
Sorry there isn’t any way to do that. would need to be separate items. as the same item ID cannot be in playlist twice and i doubt you want to have multiple copies of same file
I would like to officially request this as a feature.
I have some exercise programs that over multiple weeks repeat daily routines in different orders. Having a playlist that can repeat the same video is required to follow the prescribed schedule in the exercise program.
Playlists are the best way to accomplish this, assuming that it’s possible to add this as a feature.
Hi. It can be solved easily today by copying and pasting (n number of times as needed) the exercise video with a new file name in the directory plex can read from. Then, add the unique files into your playlist. Then reorder the playlist from the media server on the web and you’re set. Then you can play it in order or hit shuffle.
I too would like this as a feature.
Im making a Late Night/Fall asleep playlist, and trying to make it somewhat even on each show getting played but since some shows have far less episodes it means they get played much less, so I wanted to duplicate them to get them closer to the others. but of course. plex can not do that.
Also Sharing Playlist between Managed Users/My Home and "
Friends" needs to be allowed/implemented.
@punchcool this does not work. The plex server sees the files, however renamed and within a sub-folder, as a duplicate (as apparent in the “info”) and will not add to playlist.
The playlist should be 1-many with ANY files, even duplicates.
I tried the same approach of copying multiple times and it seemed to work for me. However when I scanned the library the first time, it did combine the items into a single item, but then I used the “Split Apart” option which broke them out again into separate items and was able to add all the copies as separate items on a playlist.
