Some of my libraries have this innocuous “Playlists” tab at the top, next to “Recommended”, “Library” and “Collections”.
I don’t use playlists (I use collections instead). I have never created any playlists. Yet some of my libraries (not all), have this playlists tab up there.
How do I get rid of it?
If you don’t have any playlists, you should not have a Playlist tab.
click on the tab
delete any playlists you do have
refresh the browser
The tab should be gone.
That definitely should not be there. There may be some cached info still lying around. Try
emptying the trash
clear unused bundles
optimize the database
-refresh page

Nope… none of that made any difference.
hmm, seem to be seeing the same thing, on both the hosted web app and the bundled web app. In both Chrome and Firefox
But only on a couple of libraries. (1 Movie Library and 1 TV Library)
And I have never had any or even used playlists.
Manage Home Automatically?
I’m not, and don’t see Playlists - not that I’ve ever made one.
Chrome both local and hosted - no playlists.
(I’m not going to test it - by letting Plex manage my home for me again - but you guys could check and disable auto to test)
I removed the pin from my plex home admin user and deleted the only other user I had in there.
(But I do not seem to have an option to remove the admin user or I can not find it, although according to this page I should have: https://support.plex.tv/articles/203888038-how-do-i-leave-a-plex-home/ )
Still see the playlists tab.
You can’t really leave your own Home.
I was talking about Editing the Home Page - then selecting to take manual control over it - from it’s Automatically Managed State. <—there’s an ‘Edit Pencil’ over to the right, kinda under the tools.
That’s also where you’ll be manually managing it - once you wrest control back from Plex - maybe without a Playlist Plex thinks you can’t do without.
ahh gotcha, but still no options related to playlists in there.
Guess I am stuck with them.

This is not part of the home screen… it has nothing to do with managing homes.
I wonder if there is something stuck in your database. Would you mind sending me your database?
Has anyone Emptied the Trash (carefully) or ‘Cleaned Bundles’ to see what happens?
I would probably rather not, but I am quite happy to have a look in a copy of it if you could point me to the table(s) I should have a look in.
In the meantime I might try a repair database and see if that makes any difference
I am wondering if some of my shared users may have created playlists and that could be triggering it.
I tried adding a playlist and it seems that it got added to the play_queue_generators table
and there are other entries in there that looked similar.

I just realized… that’s what happened. I had no playlist tabs.
Then on my father’s account, I created a playlist, that includes movies from two of my libraries.
Now on my account those two libraries have playlist tabs; while my other libraries do not.
So it suggests to me that the code that decides if to show the playlists tab must not be checking if the logged in user has any playlists in that library. Just if that library has any playlists at all…
Hopefully it can be added to the Bug Tracker…
Thanks guys. I am able to recreate the issue based on what you found. Filing this with the team.
Almost 3 months on and issue still happening…
Surely it can’t be that hard to just check if the logged in user has any playlists in a library.
