How do I schedule a recording besides finding it in the grid?

I’m trying to use the Android app and schedule a recording without hunting it down in the grid. How is this done?

I’ve tried going up to search and selecting Live TV & DVR, but nothing comes up when searching for the name of a show I see in the grid. I’ve also tried searching for shows I already put in my recording list and recorder episodes for and they don’t show up either. So what am I searching when I select the Live TV & DVR section?

Search on mobile is broken at the moment, but they’re looking into it. I just sent them logs today. DVR: cannot plan recording from Android app - Plex Players / Mobile Devices - Plex Forum

The only option is to search from the web app. BUT, you have to search all sources and scroll down to the Live TV source in order to get the show to appear.

unfortunately, other than the grid, and search results, there is currently no other way to schedule a recording.

this means,

  • you cannot schedule a show that is not currently airing
  • you cannot schedule a ‘time’ to record arbitrary video (ie record time period 3pm to 5:30pm)

as far as the specific android issue linked above, you would need to monitor the linked thread and/or watch for android release notes to see when that gets resolved.

If you’re using the Android mobile app, another option is to use the “Browse” tab under Live TV & DVR; you can select it from the bottom-right. Once there, you can filter by episodes, shows, movies, news, and sports. If you select a show, it will list its upcoming airings and you can schedule a recording from there.
