UPDATE:
Great implementation so far. Pretty much what I’ve been looking for. Here’s what it looks like at this point. New collections will be added eventually.

Searching google and deviant art for each of them. Went for a particular style (use term minimal or minimalist with movie name for searches) for collections specifically.
Coll - thanks!
Hi
Is it possible to find the collections menu option in anything other than Movies i.e. TV or Audiobooks?
At the moment I use Tags, which is ok, but interested in Collections
Thanks

collections is only avail for Movies and TV ( to be clear for whole TV shows, you can’t make a collection of episodes)

I’m trying to figure out whether to stay with Emby, due to a missing (and fundamental) feature that’s really affecting me now.But I’m faced with going to Plex that is in effect missing Collections, which Emby handles quite well – it’s just another library to choose from, and Collections replace individual titles in the default Movie listing. Very nice and simplifies library browsing.
Sigh.
HI how did you create the links in your left hand menu for your collections, in the screen shot?
Thanks

Those are not collections. He just has a lot of libraries

I have a lot of libraries to assist my TV app on LG, 2014 models are only Dual core processors and fairly low RAM. Newer models are quad core processors with much higher RAM. So splitting into genres libraries assist loading and scrolling times.

Ah right, obvious now I see it. Thanks.
2 Short Question1 whilst I’m here.

I don’t get the menu option for Collections, though I have plenty.
Any thoughts?
Thanks
@compact101 - upgrade to latest PMS version and use the hosted web app (on plex.tv).
@Peter_W Cheers I was on version 1.9, but the Check for Updates was greyed out, so I presumed I was on the latest.
Thanks
Ok I have the menu option but it now says “There are no items in this library” and I have Collections if I view under the menu to the left.
Ignore, had to rescan library, thanks again
Hi!
I really like how the collection function is organized. I can edit it with the web-app on my Mac. Collections turns up as per the settings I’ve set for the collections in the web-app, Ie - they behave the same in both the web-app and on my iOS units. But… the Plex Home Theatre running on my Mac won’t sort my collections in this way. It just sorts all titles in the collection after the title name. The collection it self doesn’t display. Even when i filter after collection (which I can do in the PHT), it still doesn’t sort the titles in the collection in the release order (as I have set them to do, and as they do otherwise).
Is it so simple that the PHT miss the capability to handle this feature properly? And if so, why…?
Curious why don’t you just use genre tags instead of all those libraries? You can filter on genre. ( obviously do what ever works for you)
Because James Bond, or Star Trek, or Battlestar Galatica are not genres; Collections (not sure about libraries) is the proper gathering of related shows.
It just needs a bit more polish before it’s really usable. ![]()
Call me crazy, but to me it would make sense to add Collections on the left menu, right above or below Playlists in Media Library.
Absolutely, absolutely, AbsoLUTELY!
This is where collections should be, especially since they are cross-media.
A collection can have movies, and tv shows, and music albums in it, so it’s very counter-intuitive to have to go into a media type library to find your collections.
In the navigation tree is 100% where Collections should be, right there as a first-class citizen with Playlists.
I was talking to the person above my reply who was clearly using separating everything into genre libraries names like “animation” instead of using genres filters
Ah, so more just something specific to his niche use case. Got it.
