How do I upload itunes to Plex on NAS?

Hello,

Please bear with me as I very very new to this, not sure how much info is needed…but
I have a WD NAS drive and my iTunes on my PC with my library on an external drive.
I have uploaded my Movies to the “Shared Movies” in Plex and all is fine…but I cannot
seem to get my music uploaded :frowning:

I don’t have Plex premium, just normal plex.

I’ve read articles about “importing iTunes” but cannot see this option anywhere or seem
to find out how people have done this.

Can anyone help a newbie ??

I’m not clear if the server is running on your NAS or on your computer

“Importing iTunes” refers to importing iTunes playlists. That option is only available if iTunes is installed on the same machine as server. It is not a Plex Pass only feature.

Sorry :frowning: said I was very new to this…err…I have a WD Cloud Home which gave me the Plex option ?
But I access it through my windows PC (through - http://app.plex.tv/desktop?secure=0#) if that’s any help and iTunes is also on my windows PC but I am looking to move it to plex so everything is in once place?

Is this any help ?

OK then your server is running on your NAS.

If you want all your music files on your NAS you need to copy them over to it (I imagine it has a Shared Music folder) like any file. Then Plex Media Server on your NAS will see them and the folder with the music will show as an option when you make the music library.

Thankyou for that, I have them copying over now, on a side note it says downloading metadata etc at the bottom of the screen but is not showing any artwork against any of them…is there something I have missed.
The artwork is there in iTunes ?

music does tend to take a while because there is lots of stuff on every track to check. it should grab the artwork embedded in file. but again will take a while as everything is scanned in.

Hello,

I’ve copied the files over and it finished loading/scanning/downloading metadata etc
but not a single album has the artwork :frowning:

Is there anything I need to set up/do or have I done something wrong ?

Is local Media Assets enabled in your agent settings for albums? Are you positive the artwork is embedded in the files? ( i was just told that itunes can keep it separately from files)

I guess all the artwork is stored separate to the music :frowning:
Can you help with another issue, I’ve loaded 943 movies, got the cover etc but none will play on my tv or my ipad….getting PLAYER_ERROR_CONNECTION_FAILED on TV and ipad says can’t do playback session (Or something like that) ?
