How do YOU organize your libraries?

I am reading forum and people are talking about hundreds of movies that they added to the PMS. I just added my first 100. It is getting a little crowdie.....

How do you do it with "hundreds of movies"? Do you have them all in one library? Do you divide your library into multiple libraries? If yes, what criteria do you use?

I do not think it could be divided by genres because the same movie could belong to multiple genres.

Anyway, by question is how do YOU do it? Same library? Multiple libraries? What would be the best way to do this?

Thank you.

I have my movie sections split out into separate Genre folders, all under a parent Movie folder that allows me to still have an All Movies section too. I Currently have close to 1,500 movies. I also have my TV sections split up a bit, with separate Documentary, Cartoon, Sports, and TV Series sections. I also have separate sections split out for full length Concerts, and individual song videos, etc... I'll also mention I have 15 shared users that make use of thsi system too,

The following image shows my sections in Plex/Web. The image is a few months old, and not up to date, but it gives you an idea how I do it.

One folder for my 1339 movies.  I figure sorting them is what Plex is for.  :D

For TV shows I have each show in its own folder with season folders below that (as recommended in the Plex Naming documents).

Keep it simple.

I agree... I keep mine streamlined 1500 in the movies folder alone, 300 in cartoons(Cartoon Movies), 100 in 3D, 100 in stand-up, 450 in Childrens(not cartoons), many TV series and lots of music. Not to mention my holiday folders which are added at the appropriate holiday and removed promptly after.

I am ■■■■ with my server and all its metadata and share with 20 people myself.

If there were parental controls in Plex I would have just one folder for my media. For now though I have my movies stored in folders based on their mpaa ratings.

I agree with dewd..... I have one movies folder and then a sub folder for each movie, works great. My music has it's own folder as well. I'm still in the process of ripping my DVD's to MKV and currently have about 1453 movies in my Plex library and will have close to 1800 when I'm finished. I also plan on creating a separate folder for my TV series stuff.
