How should I organize my movies and TV shows

I’m looking for suggestions on how to better organize my movies and TV shows. I currently have 11.634 movies and 600 TV series (45,852 episodes) on 12 8TB drives. I’ve put all the TV shows in “television” folders across all the drives. The movies are organized in generic “movie” folders if they are 1080p with no special sound format. I also have one drive for 480p movies, and one for 720p movies. I have 4k movies in their own folders, and I have a folder for DTS-HD, Atmos, etc.

In Plex, I just have a “Movies” and “Television” library. I do have some collections setup for movie franchises, but I thought maybe I could start sorting by genre, but I don’t know how to do that. I also would just like to hear from you how I might make it more user friendly, as having that amount of content can be ponderous to sort through. Thanks for your suggestions.

it sounds like you already have the best organization as far as the files themselves.

If you really want to put in the effort, you could do like @JuiceWSA with genre collections

That is awesome! Thank you so much for pointing me to that. I’m happy to put in the work. I’m pretty obsessive about the collection. Everything has to be named perfectly, cover art is tracked down for rare items or created, directors’ cuts and such are distinguished from theatrical cuts, etc. So I’m happy to put in the extra work. This should be great once it’s done :slight_smile:
