How does one completly remove all traces of the Plex server from the Shield?

The title pretty much says what I want to do.

I want to start over and I do not want to leave any traces behind that might screw up future operations or a reinstall. I would like to avoid a factory reset if possible but I will do that if there is no other way.
I do not see a way to uninstall the Plex server app and the options to clear data etc for the Plex app in the settings seems to have no effect at all.

Further questions:
If a library is deleted and the trash is emptied does all the related data like thumbnails and index files also get deleted?

I tried the “disable” option for the server but after a reboot of the Shield the Plex server was active again.

Like I said I would like to start all over with the Plex server without a factory reset.

From what I understand you can disable it so it’s not running (via the regular client app in the settings).
You can uninstall updates like any pre-installed app.
But you can’t fully uninstall it because it’s a pre-installed app

That’s what I thought. However I do not know if all traces get removed. But the question has now become moot as I have decided to do a factory reset. Plex is the only app I have set up and I can set it up again pretty easily. It is taking a VERY long time but I guess it will complete, eventually.

You can go to Settings → Apps, scroll to the Plex Server app, and clear app data and app cache, and reset defaults. That is effectively a complete uninstall/reinstall. There will be nothing left of a previous server configuration after that.

That flatly did not work for me. After a disable and a wipe of all data when the Shield was rebooted the Plex server was back. It resurrected like a zombie that did not have its brain completely destroyed.

The Plex server is hard to completely remove once started but a factory reset has the effect of driving a stake through its heart. How’s that for two different monster movie genera references in one post?

I guess to totally kill off the server we would need to destroy its brain, drive a stake through its heart, fill its mouth salt and sew it shut, fully consume the result with fire and then surround the ashes in a containment circle surrounded by runes and spells from at least twelve different mythologies.

All that just to remove the unwanted server from the shield. A factory reset is much easier than the above mysticism. But maybe not as much fun.

That’s weird. I had quite a few problems getting mine running, but clearing the app data/stopping the app always did the trick for me. But I do agree, your way is much more fun!

I done factory reset but that didn’t work either.
