how does plex home work w multiple users

quick question, does Plex home work like Netflix where the family uses 1 account with multiple users or does the main account send invites to sub account so that each family member has is own account ?

Both are possible.
The first is achieved by creating ‘managed users’. (Plex Pass required)

The second method is called ‘Plex Friends’
https://support.plex.tv/hc/en-us/sections/200295083-Server-Sharing

Both methods can be combined by inviting ‘Friends’ into your ‘Plex Home’.

If I purchase a plex pass and setup the managed users, do my other family members have to activate/purchase anything other than install the compatible plex app onto their devices to stream media to that portable device with no restrictions?

Hmm I didn’t see an edit feature so I’ll add that each user has their own plex account that they created when installing the app.

Can more than one person stream content simultaneously from my server?
Example: Five users streaming media to their devices at the same time?

Thanks, Erich

@houdini65 - The number of streams depends on a few things - how much transcoding needs to be done to convert your video to a compatible stream, can your processor you have to handle that (may need to be pretty beefy to do 5 at once, Passmark score of 10,000+ at least), and is there enough bandwidth needed to stream 5 streams at once - if all on your LAN, can you LAN handle it and if remote, can your upload bandwidth handle it.
As for your first question, I do not think they need anything else, it is the home administrator that needs the Plex Pass. However I do not use Home so not positive.
(Oh, the edit function is in the little gear in the top right, next to the time of your post.)

Then you can invite these existing users into your Plex Home, as mentioned above.
