Plex Limitations without Plex Pass?

I have a bunch of content that I would like to share with Family and my basic questions is this. Does Plex have limitation that would prevent this from working optimally? Examples would be:

Only x number of devices can stream content.
X number of devices causes the home network to become slow and laggy.
Each account can only have one screen playing content at a single time.

I’m just looking to understand what I can expect with this application. They would be responsible for paying to unlock the app to do this, I just want to make sure the people I make accounts for have no issues.

So you dont need to have other users pay for plex pass, you can create a managed user and give them access to certain libraries or all.

There are no limitations on how many screens or streams they can have that is 100% dependent on your equipment i.e. can your PC CPU handle X amount of streams? Will the clients need transcoding which will add to your CPU? Can your network bandwidth support X amount of streams? Can your internet upload support the bandwidth you are expecting to provide to your end users? SO there are lots of other things to consider.

I would expect problems regardless of all this as streaming over the internet is not the most reliable but works good enough for my sister in El Paso and brother in Flagstaff so as long as you are not “reselling” your services your users should be happy.

‘Managed’ users can only be created with a Plex Pass.

However, you can simply share with other people as Plex Friends.

Without Plex Pass, access to your server can only be toggled on/off on a by-library/per-user basis.

@megladin Here is an overview what features a Plex Pass gives you:

But I recommend you to simply set up your server and test it all for free for a while. Then you can still decide to upgrade.
Remember: a Plex Pass will not improve your internet bandwidth or your Plex server’s cpu power. These are all things you can test out before.

Oh Sorry I meant he would still have to pay for plex pass himself and create managed users but the users wouldn’t need to pay for their own plex pass or apps because @megladin said:

But yeah if he did the friend sharing route that is a different story…
