I need to upgrade my Server to Mojave for another application but have been hesitant to do so. I see several threads of people who had problems with it, but they all seem to be older. Have a significant number of people upgraded without problems? I need to upgrade but I really can’t have any downtime on my server either.
If you’ve upgraded, have you had any problems? If you did, were you able to resolve them without downgrading?
I haven’t updated either of my two MacMini Plex servers and am not going to. Don’t see what the advantage is right now. Mine are stable and the only thing I’m updating is the Plex Media Server on them.
With that being said, a buddy of mine updated his 2012 MacMini Plex server without incident as soon as it was available. Furthermore he’s updated several Plex Media Server versions since without incidence. And he uses the built-in update mechanism rather than re-downloading and reinstalling.
Not sure what the difference is between his setup and the ones with problems. I did note in the Announcement for Plex Media server 1.14.1.5488 had this Fix in it:
The server could crash when using network interface aliases on macOS (#9344; rdar://46083980)
That might have been the issue. It will be interesting to see what other responses you get.
I currently use my server for other things (I had a dedicated server until this year but I need to run a few other apps on it now) so I need to upgrade. I usually am at least a year behind on the upgrades but am being pushed into this one.
