How many people would use a Fetch TV app for Plex

Any idea on a possible ETA?

Yes I would use it

If that’s the case, it seems silly for the Plex devs to work on this when there are great solutions already out there. If not, well, I guess you may want to elaborate a bit more.

This was my thoughts on Plex DVR. Thank you for reiterating what I’ve been thinking since that beta was first released.

perfect …lets do this!

Are you talking about something like Sonarr? Except built into Plex?

Not only is it silly - it’ll never happen because it’s illegal.

I think the same folks clamoring for this are also aboard the ā€˜Let’s Colonize Mars’ campaign - forgetting the little details about there being no breathable atmosphere nor a magnetic field capable of reflecting the radiation that would cook you like a corn-dog in a microwave.

I say let’s give this and Mars a pass and go directly to Warp Drive or a Vertical Grid in a Plex App. Now there’s a couple of wild-eyed hopes I can get behind, neither of which will happen in my lifetime, much like an illegal Fetch TV Plex function.

lol

Illegal? There’s a Plex app for smart TVs, for XBox, and other hardware platforms. Why would Fetch be any different?

Creating a Plex app would be a huge bonus in countries where Fetch is the dominant PVR/STB. It would introduce Plex to potentially millions of new customers - especially in Australia where it’s the default media box for the 2nd biggest ISP.

Your ā€˜colonise mars’ argument is utterly irrelevant. That sort of attitude is what holds back progress.

So - is this likely? ETA?

No people, FetchTV is nothing like Sonarr. FetchTV is a brand of DVR for FTA digital TV plus apps for access to popular, legal, streaming services such as Netflix and catch-up TV services. It provides a DNLA client already, but it’s ugly as hell and navigation is painful. A proper Plex client is the only thing it is missing as far as I’m concerned (well, I want YouTube as well, but that app is apparently already under construction for the latest boxes).

My parents have got Fetch box as they dont know how to use anything else. They use chromecast/ipad for plex at the moment using to stream things, i would love it if they can use fetch tv box. less calls to me would be great

I would definitely use the a Plex App on my Fetch TV (I have the M616T/Mighty model supplied from Optus).
The only issue is that I assume my Optus variant will be totally firmware locked out, although I see it came preloaded with 1/2 dozen apps including Netflix and Stan).

+3 here, I’d very much like to be able to either use Fetch TV through Plex, or alternatively use Plex on my Fetch TV’s

Would love to see this - would reduce the number of boxes under my folks’ TV. How many votes would we need before the plex devs would even consider it?

With the recent release of the DVR function here on earth, perhaps breathable air on Mars isn’t too far behind… Meantime, has anybody seen/heard/tinkered/had any experience at all with any DLNA profiles that could potentially be used in PMS to create a DLNA profile that could serve even some basic visual metadata in Fetch’s Media Hub? Please correct me if you believe I’m wrong but I don’t think that would be illegal, as what is being done is creating a personal settings XML file within PMS, which then adjusts how PMS serves up the DLNA content to the Fetch box.
I am going to have a crack at it using info from this post but I’ve never had any experience with this and it’ll be very much trial & (probably lots of) error. Cheers all

Hell yeah!!!

I would definitely use it as I currently have a Fetch Mighty for FTA and an Apple TV that is my Plex client. I could get rid of the Apple if I could run a Plex client on the Fetch.

Definitely keen for this! Very surprised it hasn’t occurred yet… Seems like a simple fix. Just get the native app that runs on nearly all smart TVs/android TVs and put it onto the Fetch TV…

Please develop Plex for Fetch, it would make life a little easier. I could also get rid of a remote.

Ive just signed up to Optus on NBN plan, Fetch box is included.
Very keen to see Plex.

Yes, Already using it on other devices.

brilliant idea there are netflix and other apps already on fetch… I’d talk to fetch first tho to find out if they have contracts that would prohibit them loading it on for you.

Having said that this would be a stellar idea… we have our fetch box hooked up to a large computer monitor in the kids room and it’s a PITA to switch HDMI ports to watch chromecast just for plex… I’d rather just have fetch.

I want this very very much! Let’s all request this!
