How NOT to transcode?

Hello everyone

Since there is finally plex media server for my NAS i’ve instaled it but have one problem…

My setup is: Synology DS218play + LG 55LF652V + Logitech Z-906

NAS and TV are cable connected via router (tp-link Archer C1200 v2.0).

So instaling PMS was nice and easy, organizing my library and way to browse it is excelent…but when I’m trying to play show or movie on my TV with PLEX app my NAS starts to work with 100% CPU usage, HDDs are making a lot of noise and every 5-10 seconds movie stops and is buffering…I tried to optimize files by PMS (but I don’t wanna make it because it tooks too long and make my NAS work too loud) and it helped a bit but only when I’ve turned subtitles off - with subtitles problem is the same as above.
I’ve tried with same files (not optimized) on pendrive conected directly to my TV or launched from my nas by LG smart share and all was playing good without NAS burning and making noise.

Is there any way to make PMS not to try being so smart and stop transcoding on my NAS just let my TV do it?

All video files I have are 1080p, 6ch sound (AC3/AAC/DTS) + subs 90% in *.srt files and 10% *txt files.

P.S.
When I try to watch same files via PMS on my NAS with my PC there is no problem at all so it seems it is not transcodning on NAS then. But that’s not solution for me - I’ve bought NAS for not using my PC for watching movies.

I know it, but as wrote before:

So if I put usb memory into my TV and video plays and subtitles are working I understand that my client (TV) CAN play the file. While trying to watch SAME file via PMS - it tries to transcode on my NAS.
So it’s something wrong with PMS.

I’ve made some tests with my TV and have no problem with any kind of subtitles - PMS tels my nas to transcode every time there are external subtitles.

PMS was my hope for beter GUI - everyone who has a LG TV knows how bad smartshare is…but I can not use it as long as it can’t let my TV do what my TV CAN DO. Thats the problem :frowning:

I was trying to find more informations about my TV - but there was hard to find more than that:

So it looks like “player” in TV can support everything i need. And TV CPU can handle it…so why CPU on m y nas can’t? Is there some problem with architecture (realtek CPU)? I know it is not final version of PMS for my NAS arhitecture, so maybe it will be optimized in future?

So I understand that there is no “player” in plex client I’ve instaled on my TV?

Re-encoding is not an option - the Idea of buying NAS was to exclude PC from watching movies…so launch it just for re-encoding 1h of video in 30-40mins is pointless and simple waste of energy.

On the other hand maybe problem is about how PMS works with NAS?

there are technical data of my NAS:

NAS spec

It looks it should handle transcoding with no problem and for now it is burning and need time to buffer every few seconds
