How should I apply for a refund?

A large number of users reported that the paid download function has bugs and cannot be used. We have waited patiently for several months and have not solved it, and we have not given a solution time.
After the user pays, Plex is responsible for ensuring that the function is available, which is the most basic business contract. If PLEX is unable to perform, please actively come up with a compensation plan or refund. Please PLEX respond to this.
If you have the same problem, please speak up and make Plex a little better together. Thank you

The cause of the matter

I reported on 2022-2-27 that there is a loop download problem when PLEX downloads multiple items. In addition to this problem, even if the music album has been downloaded, the downloaded content will be automatically deleted after a period of time, that is It is said that the paid download function has serious bugs and cannot be used at all.

Question feedback post

A lot of user feedback, they encountered the same problem.

So many users reported that the download function is not available, and this function is paid, PLEX has not provided a solution for several months, I think it is a reasonable request to compensate users or give users a refund. Please PLEX provide a way to solve the problem. Thank you

help…

Refunds are exclusively handled by “Plex Pass Billing support”: Contact | Plex

I think the OP is more hoping for an actual solution to this, by threatening a refund demand if they don’t.

This is a legit issue that really ought to be fixed or at least acknowledged. I haven’t tried using the download feature for my devices anytime recently to verify if its broken for me as well. But when I plan to travel later this year, it will be an important feature to use, so a fix for it would be great.

About my contact with the Plex billing department:
I purchased a Plex Pass on September 14, 2021 for $95.99, and after contacting the billing department, they responded that Plex Pass subscriptions are not normally refundable, but can give me an exception refund of $56.87.
Not to mention that Plex was not able to provide the service, and I had to apply for a refund, which was too little, even if deducted by one year’s fees.
Well, Plex, you won. You took the money from the users, and the problem hasn’t been resolved for months, and we users are out of options.

Yes, this appears to be a pattern with the plex pass paid features. My experience with Live TV/DVR was brutal. I basically didn’t have something that was satisfactory to use for over 16 months after getting a lifetime pass. Refund was completely denied. So I ended up finally having to accept having the feeling that I’d been defrauded by Plex. I use other DVR software now for and periodically check to see if Plex still completely sucks in this area (since I still have the pass). I definitely try to discourage anyone who is thinking of giving money to Plex for a Plex Pass.

PLEX, any timeline for this silly bug to be fixed? I’m tired of getting my music deleted and redownloaded again and again.

Plex: Zero response? nothing to say?

Still doesn’t work, just like a VAST number of other VERY BASIC functions (DVR, Live TV etc etc, just check back my posts, pretty much nothing has been fixed for years).

Going on holiday and the best I can come up with is to manually transfer all my stuff to a memory card and play it through good old reliable Kodi.

Plex really is a broken product that cannot fulfill the most basic of functions that are required of it.

I wasted my money on this POS so one can only hope that threads like this warn off other users who may be tempted to part with their hard earned cash for a product and company that are more interested in monetizing useless functions.

I must be doing something wrong as the download feature works fine for me ?

Server is on a Win 10 machine and I have iPhones 7’s, an iPhone 12, a 6th gen iPad.

Plex server works for us. Plex HTPC is brilliant. All our various media devices work fine with Plex (Telstra TV, Nebula Capsule, iPads and IPhones, laptops) ?

We don’t use DVR/TV so can’t comment on that.

we should all start using jellyfin tbh

True. If you want delayed features because the “developers” took the last open source Emby build and have been gradually modifying it while removing a LOT of the credits from the original authors. That is Jellyfin is about as close to stolen software as you get on the open source world.

If you want better than Plex then use Emby itself., Not the ■■■■■■■ child of early Emby and thieves…

Emby is WAY better than Plex, it is different but better and, just about as important, they have GREAT support with the actual developers often answering questions and, usually, quickly fixing bugs.that get exposed.

I use Emby and before that I used Plex for years and it became worse and worse and almost unusable about a year or so ago. I also tried Jerrlyfin and I found it hard to use and very buggy.

If you want poor development and a LOT of overhead and fluff then use Plex.
If you want reliable software with great support use Emby.
If you want to support the shady side, or even full support of “The Dark Side” and like bugs use Jellyfin.

It is my belief that Jellyfin should be avoided at all costs until they put the credits they removed back in the code and actually produce code with a low number of bugs and provide halfway decent support.

  1. Emby is closed source
  2. You have to pay for Emby, just like Plex so you’re defeating the purpose of switching away from Plex
  3. Emby is literally worse than Plex, lol

You have your opinion but being closed source is NOT a real problem as Emby deserves to have their intellectual protected and it is clear that crooks will steal open source code just to take credit for it.

Both Emby and Plex do NOT cost anything unless you want extra or additional features.

The only way Emby is worse than Plex is if you like the fluff Plex has added.

And I believe that an Emby lifetime sub cost less than Plex but I do not know for sure as I bought lifetime for both quite a while ago and prices do change.

But each person must make their own choices and if you prefer Plex then use Plex.

Also Plex is closed source as well so that is a non-issue.

meh, i dont give a â– â– â– â–  anymore. as soon as jellyfin is 1 iota better than plex for my use case, im â– â– â– â– â– â– â–  outta here.

I find myself having to use more and more third party apps (infuse, Kodi etc) because the Plex apps don’t always function properly. So I also feel your pain OP especially with downloads. Not sure what’s happening at Plex but quality control seems to be taking a bit of a hit as of late.

Was on vacation this past week and attempted to download a small file via plex on iPhone and iPad and I couldn’t get it to download at all, even though my server back home was up and running without issues on my home network, and Plex was reachable outside of my network.

So many small issues that are very frustrating for users and to make it worse nobody even responds to complaints. Kind of insulting to users.

i cancelled my plex pass this month.
i used virtually none of the added “benefits” that plex pass gives, and felt that continually paying them when they don’t fix issues with the core software was no longer sensible.

plex at the moment (maybe always) are more interested in adding new “features” that nobody asked for than fixing long standing issues with the core software.
