Seeing this in your log…can’t be good. Have you tried deleting and reinstalling the Plex app on your device? I’ve had problems with the sync before and it was fixed by deleting and reinstalling the Plex app on the device. Hopefully someone can provide more insight on these failed state DEBUGs in your log.

While I was trying to do the Download thing I had a few items Syncd cause that’s the only method that works for me. I’m not sure what’s going on in the logs but I haven’t been having any issues with using Sync.
I did just try reinstalling the Plex App though, it didn’t fix my download issue unfortunately.
You are using sync and downloads on same device? That may be your problem.
I’ve been unable to use Download since it was introduced and I have tested it with and without anything sync’d.
If there’s some stuck items you had previously synced it might be worth to attempt a manual clean-up:
No guarantee this will work. I just remember having experienced some initial hiccups when switching to downloads while there were still some sync items queued.
Very sorry for replying so late. Thanks for the suggestions but I’ve tried doing this multiple times but still nothing.
Just chiming in here to note that I see the exact same behavior / problem. Downloads simply never start on iOS. Happens for me on two different iOS devices and have tried three different Plex server sources.
Will chime in also.
I don’t use Download/Sync too often but seeing the issues others are having I just tested it out without issue. iPhone 12 and Linux/docker server.
Can you provide the ios logs? That will have more info on what is going on.

here you go
Your logs show you are still on Sync. Please make sure you delete all the Sync jobs you previously created. If you just uninstall the app, it deletes the content, but the jobs still exists so they will try to Sync again on the next install.
That’s strange. I did delete all the syncd items before doing it. anyway I’ve tried it again so hopefully these should be fine. Thank you for looking into this btw

Maybe the sync’d items are still cached in the server? I would delete all sync from your PMS server for all users.
I see where you deleted all the Synced items, but I don’t see you switched over to Downloads afterwards. Please try this.

lets see if this is any different…
by the way it never actually goes to an error or anything. It just says ‘Downloading…’ forever. I think I’ll just leave it for a few hours or something to see if it ever actually gives up and goes to an error. I’ll upload the logs again if there’s any change.
Edit: 2 hours and even then it doesn’t show any error.
Are you running a reverse proxy? Looks like something isn’t configured and the app can’t find your server properly.
No. To my knowledge I’m not doing anything out of the ordinary.
I have been having what I think is a similar issue. I have been through the process which was described above. Cancel all sync items, enable downloads, force close app, reload (to make sure the settings change happened) and then initiate one download.
As a feature improvement would be really nice to actually see somewhere the progress for the transcoding (not found that anywhere yet), and I am not sure if this will actually download once transcoded (not had any success with the feature yet).
I will update later when I’ve left enough time for the transcode to finish.
You can check the download progress on your phone app by going to the downloads after you select it to Download. This will give you a progress circle. It doesn’t tell you if it is transcoding or downloading, but provides the overall progress.
FWIW…transcode is way too slow for me so I’ve always converted my videos to codec and file type that’s direct play. It makes the overall download process MUCH faster, and saves on processor demand.
