Hi,
I was wondering is there a way to add just one media file, for instance a movie, without adding the entire folder that it is contained in??

No. In Plex you always add folders to a library.
If you want to add only one movie, then this movie needs to be in a folder on its own.
Then you edit the movie library and add only this folder. But careful: this’ll only work for up to ~30 folders.
So you better re-think your current folder organization.

How interesting. PMS limits at about ~30 folders?

That may be true but that limit does not seem to apply to sub folders. I have two folders in my main movie library and twentyseven subfolders (letters #-z) under each making a total of fiftyfour folders and that is not counting the subfolders under each letter.
However that does not really negate the 30 folder limit at all. All it really does is show a way to have a lot more folders in a library. Then there is those that have each movie in a separate folder, I think at least one of the really huge libraries are done that way, I don’t remember whose but I think it was in excess of 5000 movies.
But no one I have heard of has in excess of 30 folders in the root of a library.
I did, for a while, have all the letter folders in one library’s root but that was only twentyseven and I never tried to add more.
I also do not remember any posts about anyone pressing that limit but I am sure there have been some as @OttoKerner would not have mentioned it otherwise.
I wonder if the limit is hardcoded or the product of something else? My curiosity is really just an intellectual exercise and is not based on any real need. I also wonder why it is not an exact number?
But all that is truly not really important as long as my library setup works. I just like to know things for the sake of knowing them. My mind is a trove of useless information until it becomes useful.

I was thinking the limitation was here
I do not see any limitation and I do not remember ever seeing any message about a limit when I was adding folders.
It is not a hardcoded limit. It is just that you won’t be able to save the changes, once you exceed the maximum number of folders in this dialog.
Why that is, I don’t know.
