How many folder can I add to my library?

Hello everyone,
I have an external hard drive with my movies organized in folders for each director. In each folder I have several movies from this director. As I would like to keep this structure for my HD, I was thinking to add each folder to my media movies library, but they are quite a lot. Maybe more than 70.
Is there a limit of folders you can add to a library? Could it cause some troubles to have so many media folders in a library? Thank you.

There have been reports in the past which indicate that there might be a practical limit around 30 folder paths.
(It also appears that the overall speed of your server machine may play a role as well.)

I think the filter for “Director” in Plex will serve you much better than this arbitrary folder structure by director.
This is a typical example of an organization which is achieved much more efficiently by using metadata than actual file sorting.

Thank you. Yes I know and I really love it, but it is just in case I need manage my movies out of plex. It is just to keep some order on my HD files as there are maybe more than 1500 movies. Each file name starts with the year of the movie and then the tille and the resolution. And I just discover also it is not the best for plex meta agents to start with the year, but this structure organisation has been done before using plex and it took me a lot of time :frowning:

There is software which can help you to change it semi-automatically.

Filebot would be one of these apps.
