Help adding multiple folders at once

I have a lot of movies to add, each in it’s own folder. Here are the steps I am taking, and the problem I am having…On my desktop PC, I go into Plex, and go to the Movies folder. I click the gear, and then click EDIT LIBRARY. Then I click ADD FOLDERS. Scrolling to the bottom, I then click BROWSE FOR MEDIA FOLDER. Then I click my G drive, and then on the MOVIES folder. Now I can see all of the folders that contain my movies. If I click any one of them, I am then given the window to ADD the folder. If I add it, I am then forced to start over at the BROWSE FOR MEDIA FOLDER link for the next folder in the list of folders. The problem is that I have way too many to add them one at a time like this, instead I want to be able to have it add 20 or 30 of them at a time. Is there any way for me to be able to select multiple folders before having the ADD window come up? Thanks in advance for any help anyone can give me on this!

Not sure I understand. You do not add every move to your library. You just need to point Plex to the correct location and Plex will add the movies to your library.

G:\Movies - That’s it, do not go any further than that. Plex will add all movies found within that folder.

Oh, for crying out loud. I feel like quite the dunce. But a question or two, if you don’t mind…If I do that, will it be possible to remove individual folders later, if I decide I no longer want certain movies, or will I have to remove the entire MOVIE folder? That is why I am adding them all separately, so that I can be certain I will be able to remove them separately, if I would feel the need to do so. Also, If I add the movie folder, what will happen in regard to the folders already added? Will it skip over them, overwrite them, or add them a second time? Thanks for all your advice!

It seems to me that in the EDIT LIBRARY list where it shows what you have added, it is only going to say G/MOVIES, so that is all there would be for me to remove. The only way to remove separate folders would be to remove them from the external drive (which I do not want to do) and allow Plex to update. Does this sound right to you?

You are not the first, so don’t feel to bad.

Absolutely, you should remove the individual movie folders you have the library looking at. I would have Plex Scan G:\Movies and after it was done scanning and scraping metadata and posters, then I would remove the individual folders from the library scanned location. In the process you might notices a small blue circle with a number 2 on some of your movies - this is Plex indicating a duplicate. That would disappear after removing the individual movie folders from the scanned location.

I have the same question but for a different reason. Since movies have multiple genre’s, I sort my movies by the top three related genre’s according to IMDB, that way when I am looking for a movie all applicable movies appear. At the same time, I don’t want a copy of a movie for each of the three genres (wasting space), so I have PLEX link a file to three libraries, making it impossible to just select the root directory. How do I select multiple files at the same time to load, as it is tiresome to do it individually.
