Server Version#: 1.20.4.3517
Player Version#: 4.43.4
Just recently migrated my Plex server from one box to another (both Ubuntu 2020.10). Upon completing migration, I noticed an unusual access issue. This issue may have been occurring previously, as I hadn’t looked in a while.
When accessing my home Plex server remotely, it no longer requires a login to access the Plex content. My library is not visible until the user logs in… just concerned that anonymous users could start consuming my bandwidth. I don’t want Plex to be accessible at all to users on the internet, unless they have logged in.
Is this being caused by my recent migration? Is there a way to correct this behavior?
Thanks for the fast reply. That’s it. If it’s not using my bandwidth, that’s great.
I block the Plex hosted content for my kids accounts. This means that they can defeat the control I put in place by logging off. Not terribly concerned about this. Just seems less useful. Would love to be able to block it.
It is claimed. Anyone can access the plex web player hosted on my server. They cannot access my content without logging in. That’s where shark2k indicated it is open for all and the content does not route through my server. There’s no way to block this, that I could find.
@anon18523487 They want to block access to the Plex Movies & TV On Demand offerings that Plex offers. That is what they are referring to as that does not require you to be logged in to see that content. Basically if their kids manage to logout of the app/get signed out, they would prefer them to not have access to that content.
Ok, well that’s not possible. You can turn off access to those content form their account settings in Plex Web, but they can always turn it back on. Plex also allows access to those content even if you don’t have a Plex account.
Note that those content are provided by Plex and comes from Plex. It will have 0 impact on your bandwidth.
