It is a shame that not ONE Plex employee posted any response at all to this thread. Plex claims that they are creating a program for their community and wants to give the user a great media experience. However, when something like this is posted, it is radio silence from them. More and more, it feels like they don’t care what the public wants, but rather, implement features that they want or at the same time, implement features that should be part of the base package, but rather, place behind a pay wall. Simple features, that should be available to everybody (free or Plex Pass), but are only available if you are a Plex Pass member. Features, that other products have as part of the base (free) package.
I understand fully that Plex is a company, and the goal is to be profitable, but at the same time, some features still should be enabled for everyone. You can’t even get a evaluation license, to try out all the features that a Plex Pass allows, to see if at the end of the day, it is worth actually purchasing.
Being able to have Parental Controls, for instance, should NOT be a Plex Pass feature. But it’s not. And why would I pay the $4.99/$39.99/$119.99 without first being able to evaluate all the features.
This is yet another example of Plex not listening to its community . It may be time to look at Emby. And since we are developing a product that we wanted to use Plex as part of, this is very disappointing.
My Little Cable Company™, that I run, uses Kodi for almost every TV. We are 5 homes, on a cul-de-sac all connected via fiber back to my house, and also directly to the house next to theirs. Really shouldn’t say my house. We all got together, and installed a small barn with power and cooling that holds my home office, and 2 racks that hold servers and networking gear (my home lab).
We have completely Cut the Cord from the cable company with the exception of an internet connection (now if I could convince the cable company to throw me a BGP feed). But every TV, SmartTV or not, has a Kodi box connected to it, and use that for almost everything. I just wish that Plex would keep it’s Kodi App in active development. Yet another example of Plex not listening to its community and rather, trying to FORCE people to use other items. They have made so many changes to the other clients but basically don’t care about the community that uses Kodi.
Come on plex, it’s a simple feature that every player that supports subtitles has…
It’s really annoying to not find a exact subtitle match for a certain media file, and not be able to adjust it on the fly!
I’m using a browser and have been able to set the offset while playing the movie.
pause movie
select ‘settings’ (the vertical slide bar looking icon)
+50 ms if the text is showing up After the person speaks
-50 ms if the text appears Before the person speaks
(50 ms = 0.05 seconds (1000 ms per sec (millisecond 1/1000 sec)))
works for small offsets.
I have a Russian movie that I clipped the beginning credits on by 20 seconds (19500 ms), and PMS wont offset that much (it lets me click -50 ms a thousand times and set the number, but it doesn’t actually make the change).
