On my Sony 4K TV I just switched from using an external Roku Ultra device to using the Sony’s own interface. This includes PLEX.
On the Roku, the movies display the “tiles/posters” which I have created. These tiles have essential information about the video. However, with the Sony interface the “tiles/posters” which I want to appear are not there. Instead, I get a thumbnail screenshot from the video.
As a result, there is none of the essential information. How can I change the Sony version of the PLEX player to use my “tile/poster” instead?
Can you take a screenshot of what you are referring to. It sounds like you are possibly using Sony’s software (maybe DLNA) instead of our app. The interface on our android tv app is basically the same as our Roku app when viewing libraries.
I have created my own personal “tiles” or “posters”, just as I might select specific photos to attach to my videos. They ARE attached. I know this because MY media shows up when I use my Roku TV, or use a Roku device with my Sony 4K TV, or use my iPad.
However, MY media does not show up when I use the PLEX app on my Sony 4K TV.
I believe I downloaded this PLEX app to my Sony TV. When I open PLEX on my Sony it looks very much like the interface on my Roku TV and Roku Ultra.
This PLEX app on my Sony is NOT the same.
But this is not surprising because there is little consistency with my iPad PLEX app either.
I am wondering why these PLEX players are so different.
Can you please go to settings in the app and look at what version number it is. It should be on bottom right corner of settings if it is an Android based Sony TV.
To confirm: On the Sony the horizontal thumbnails for each video are not showing the custom images you set for them.
Is that correct?
If so that sounds like a bug with that app so I will make report. The apps on various devices are built with different software best suited for the operating system on that device. Though we try to get them to be as close as possible, sometimes there may be bugs that affect one but not the other or one may have capabilities that the other does not.
