Server Version#: 1.25.2.5319
Player Version#: Plex Web - 4.71.0
When playing many shows I get the spinning wheel/buffering indicator every 5-10 minutes or so, and the only way to continue playing the file is to refresh the browser and ‘Resume from whatever time’.
The server/playing pc is pop 21.04, i5-9400, with proprietary drivers for GeForce GTX 1050 Ti. I watch through Firefox (have tried Chrome with same results). The files are local mounted via NFS stored on my storage machine (another pop os 21.04).
Logs: I have both regular and verbose capturing periods of this issue I think I say please do not attach verbose logs unless asked, so I won’t. I can post mediainfo for any problematic files. Tried uploading regular log but “Sorry, there was an error uploading that file. Please try again.”

What’s the best way to diagnose this properly?
I’ve played the media via other players (Gnome Videos, VLC) to try and rule out NFS/network issues.
It occurs pretty reliably so I can provide up to date logs if needed.
If I’m asked for logs should I pastebin or?
Thanks!
Sorry, there was an error uploading that file. Please try again.
Have you already tried playing those files using the native Plex desktop apps (e.g. Plex HTPC or Plex for Mac/Windows)? Browsers are quite limited in their media playback capabilities which can more easily require the streams to be transcoded.
Before digesting any logs it’s always worth taking a look at the now-playing section in the server’s dashboard (while streaming that file). This is mostly to see/understand if the stream is considered local/remote/indirect and if/which streams are transcoded (with/without hw-acceleration).
Obviously media info could be useful (either from actual MediaInfo or using Get Info > View XML, using the Media element and its content).
I don’t have a windows or mac pc available. It doesn’t seem to happen on either iphone or android running latest plex apps. I’ve tried supposed plex apps for linux but I think the last I tried it was just a stripped down chrome browser? -is there an app you recommend for linux playback? You seem to be onto something re linux playback via browser -if that’s the issue and there’s no plex desktop app for linux, is there anything I can do to improve the browser playback?
While streaming the file I see "
Plex Web — Firefox
Buffering—21:58 / 43:35
Local (192.168.2.233)—31 Mbps
Video
1080p (H.264)
Direct Stream
Audio
English (EAC3 5.1)
AAC—Transcode"
Thanks again for the help.
Tried attaching the xml of file info but getting “Sorry there was an error…” hope it’s ok to just paste out:
