How can I build a list of media that is no longer available in Plex, due to a drive that’s now unmountable?
I haven’t fired up Plex since the data loss, but I’m assuming the Plex library now includes a bunch of titles/metadata for files that are no longer available. I’m going to have to update my Plex library, of course, but I want to build a list of exactly what’s missing in the process.
I’d like to know what I used to have on the failed drive, so I can think about back-filling. Or not, if it’s not that important. But right now, I don’t know what’s gone.
OK, server is working. Almost ready to start up Plex. I don’t already have WebTools or ExportTools set up, so I’m going to have to make sure nothing triggers a library update while I install one or both.
How can I make sure Plex doesn’t automatically update any libraries?
I made the backup copy of the database, but ultimately didn’t need to use it. I disabled autoEmptyTrash (as well as FSEventLibraryUpdatesEnabled, FSEventLibraryPartialScanEnabled, and ScheduledLibraryUpdatesEnabled), then checked the Plex plugins folder before starting—and was surprised to see I’d already installed version 2.something of WebTools!
I then started Plex, updated WebTools, and was able to get lists of what was missing.
Extent of the damage: 546 missing HD movies, and 1913 missing HD episodes of TV. Not the end of the world, but not great.
At least I can quantify the Plex stuff I lost. I’m not sure what personal data I might be missing. I have reasonable backup strategies, so I don’t think I’ve lost anything mission-critical. But it would be nice to know for sure what was on that drive…
Which settings do I turn on to have the libraries update when new stuff turns up in Plex media directories, but not automatically remove missing items from the libraries?
(Is that just autoEmptyTrash=0, and any/all of the other library update switches=1?)
