Hello everyone,
I’ve recently run into a matching issue with the Plex Series agent and was hoping for some help.
The main problem is that when the Plex Series agent fails to identify a show correctly, I can’t seem to find a way to manually intervene and force the correct match, especially when multiple results of a show exist.
A specific example is the show “PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBELT”. This series has two distinct results:
-
PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBEL/吊带袜天使(2010): the original 2010 TV series.
-
New PANTY & STOCKING with GARTERBELT/新·吊带袜天使(2025) , which also has its own TMDB entry.
My files are for the 2010 version, and my folder is named correctly. However, when I use the “Fix Match” feature, no matter what search terms I use (including adding the year “2010”), the Plex Series agent only returns the 2025 “New” version. The original 2010 version never appears in the search results.
The only workaround I’ve found is to manually switch the agent for this specific show back to the “The MovieDatabase (Legacy)” agent. Using the legacy agent, it correctly and instantly identifies the 2010 version without any issues.
However, this workaround has two major drawbacks. First, as long as I’m using a legacy agent for any item, a persistent red exclamation mark appears in my Plex settings, prompting me to upgrade the library to the new Plex Series agent. This constant alert is very annoying. Second, I’m concerned about this method because Plex has stated that support for legacy agents will eventually be discontinued.
So, my question is: in a situation like this, is there a way to force the Plex Series agent to use the correct entry? For example, can I provide the correct TMDB ID (in this case, tmdb-42421) or the full TMDB URL directly to the agent to ensureit matches correctly?
Thanks in advance for any help or suggestions!
