Its really disappointing that we are not getting any updates on this issue from the devs.
I am having this same issue as well. Sometimes the movie details page will load but quickly freeze the Plex app. It’s odd when the app chooses to let me watch movies. The issue doesn’t seem tv show related on my end though.

I’ve already mentioned that we’re working on a fix here, and we’re hoping to submit soon.
Feel bad for @Moussa (not that he needs our sympathy I’m sure), seems to be toiling away largely on his own (just the perception) while resources are diverted away.
I mean, I’m sure the three people who own an Nvidia Shield are ecstatic about recent developments there, but…

I assume they all work on multiple projects. Ijunkie does roku and he pushes out updates very quickly. Just like he did before he started working for plex. I think when they push an update they move onto something else for while.
The problem is plex as a whole is turning into something that works, but a master none. Meaning they don’t complete anything. Lots of features are half completed and then they move onto something else.
I love plex. It will always be the center on my entertainment, but you guys need to finish things. I know how people pull you in a thousand different directions. The Xbox app should still be in the preview section. It’s no where ready. It is missing features that other apps have had a long time.
Again, I love you guys, just focus on one thing and stop trying to add more clients or places to put the sever. I would so much rather having a couple clients than all of these that are not finished. You know what will happen. All these clients that are not used as much they will eventually stop updating and they will be abandoned. It’s a lot to keep track of them and what has what.

If it’s any help, I see this error in the logs while waiting for the data to load after clicking on a movie:

I’m having the same problem. I restarted my XBONE and the server (Mac) but nothing works. I’m guessing it’s an issue with either the server release or client release that needs to be fixed with an update. Shame too because I was literally going to purchase the lifetime subscription this week and now I’m going to hold off until this issue is fixed.

I am seeing very similar messages in my logs.

I believe I’ve identified the cause of the slowness for some users, and am working on a fix. The intention is to submit an update with this fix, and some others, as soon as possible.
Just wanted to say that I just got a Kinect and am loving the Plex Xbox One app even more with voice control. Other than the slowness brought about in the last update, it works great! ![]()
I recently located and just got my theater temporarily online. I boot up the server and fire up my xbox 1 with its updates to find that it is super slow and im having frame issues with weir colors or bars. Anyhow it looks like both problems are related to the most recent update. I thought it was a problem with my new networking or hardware i have implemented. I have been pulling my hair out over these problems. I am also having problems getting any clients in the house online. The only thing that works now is my xbox 1, and its marginal at best.
same xbox one issue here. significant lag when trying to hit a movie’s description/play screen (20-30 second delay). i’ve reverted to server 0.9.16.0. this has been happening on the latest server 1.0.1.2396 and the update before it.

It’s been a month since then… any update or ETR?
The update is in the final stages of testing, and we’re hoping to announce a release soon! Sorry about the wait.

Thank you so much! this has been painful! >:-D I keep having to resort to the chromecast which has such a hard time playing anything of great quality :(.
Plex really needs more resources on the Xbox One app - how long it takes to get an update out for a crucial fix is really quite ridiculous (not poking at Moussa here - he is doing great work). I’ve had to pretty much abandon the app for a while now.
I really don’t get their philosophy - Plex desperately needs some strong competition to give us an option to jump ship entirely, maybe then they will start to listen/care.
@SteveMcNally
While I absolutely would love to have quicker updates for the Xbox One platform, Plex have been pretty public about the fact that it takes much longer than they expected to get app updates approved by Microsoft.
It’s still completely possible that they aren’t dedicating the resources we would like to the XBO app, but MS certainly has a hand in the app having a slower update cycle than other platforms.
I have a friend that works for Microsoft Development Support. He said that their team gets pretty overwhelmed with requests but to be patient, they just hired a ton of people for this very reason. There is a light at the end of the tunnel, gentlemen.
Wow! Watched a couple movies this weekend I could go make popcorn while waiting for the movie info screen to come up. TV episode screen was annoyingly slow to load but I now can see why people had to move away from Plex for Xbox One when it came to movies.
When the UWP version of the App can run on the Xbox they no longer need approval to this level anymore I believe. Then once they submit the app for approval it can go through in a matter of days. Assuming that Plex go that way for the Xbox one one day that is.

I do take your point, but looking back at the dates, this app breaking problem began on May 31 when the previous version was released. From posts it looks like the first (rejected) fixed version wasn’t submitted until the start of July? Looks like Microsoft are taking about 7-10 days to approve or reject, but this crucial fix has taken upwards of 7 weeks. MS aren’t fast for sure at the moment, but they were responsible for only a small fraction of the time it’s taken…
Perhaps because they only seem to have one person dedicated to it?
Anyway, if it’s out tomorrow and does fix it then great, I will be happy to start using it again. Been playing around with Emby the last couple of days, and it’s starting to look a viable alternative, and is already more advanced in many ways. Thanks to Moussa for his continued work on this app and giving us hope that Plex can continue to be my system of choice!
