Poll Please Voice Your Opinion On The New Plex App For Xbox One And Comment To Keep It Active

This is anonymous, I want to see what everyone’s feedback here is. I think this might be more valuable to Plex rather than a post full of complaints.

Plex emoyees, if anyone is listening here, I think this poll is a good one and offers fair options for customer feedback. Pinning it to the top will help it give you a lot of feedback. I seriously want to keep this service the absolute best it can be!

Rate your feedback here I see my other post has almost 2000 views

I don’t mind the UI so much. I hate the fact that it broke my ability to play most of my movies. And my server is showing as “nearby” instead of local.

Nearby means exactly the same, it’s still in your local network.

Not sure why I’m having such problems with MKV files.

If it’s a one off update then we have been screwed. If it’s the first or many regular updates then I am ok with the bugs, for now. It would be nice for the Devs to commit to fixing issues and then providing ongoing support for this app

The interface is better and we all waited for this update. But the navigation, search, button mapping, libraries can be better. Just continue to tweak and improve the interface. I know it is not about the xbox one app only.
And also I want to give @Moussa a big thank for his job. I also suggest that we receive small app updates instead a waiting a long time to get some fixes. (some workarounds are not working for me)

This so far is just a version 1.0 release (if you will) of the app using the new framework required for building xbox apps. There will be some growing pains.

Plex is committed to the xbox app. Fixes are already being worked on and some people are running alphas testing it!

If you select subtitles Xbox app will transcode the movie instead of direct playing it.

Fixes? What fixes? Changed UI to something that can be useful? What people are testing the app? Same ones who tested the current one? Alfa testing, that’s a good one. Looks like so much testing is being done and then an app get released with bugs that should be caught withing few minutes of using the app.

I think this was a good update but I have some UI issues. I’m not a fan of going up on the interface to select the library I want displaying. I would much prefer just having a selected server and then seeing those libraries across the top of the screen.

I have the problem with direct play selected and turned off. Plays a few minutes of the movie then quits and says the file didn’t start in time. Same movies worked fine before the update and also work fine on other devices (iOS, chromecast).

I think the biggest growing pain was getting pushed to this new version and losing the old one. I know it’s to late now, but man that was a bad call to make. Hopefully it was a lesson learned for next time. I agree you guy should have a separate beta app to let us use and submit bugs, like you do on the roku. Seems like MS lets you do that. I have been in the sea of thieves alpha for a long time now, and that won’t be the final app “game” when it comes out. Why don’t you guys let us fill out a forum and request to get the alpha/beta? Might be helpful to you guys for sure.

Just wanted to say that I like some of the features that were added in with this new update but you sure confused my daughter and wife with this update. They had no clue how to navigate and my daughter thought she “broke plex” because she was stuck in our christmas movies library. Now they keep asking if we can go back to how it used to be.

Also, a small note for when the update is first run. The home didn’t work until you went into another library and then back to the home tab. Really confused us when we used it.

The lack of ability to play lots of my files makes this an awful upgrade. The visual layout is not to bad, but the navigation when trying to fast forward or rewind is abysmal

I hate the new app. It has completely ruined my enjoyment of my media. I am furious with Plex for forcing me to upgrade to this broken mess. I can’t understand how this could be considered even a beta release.

Only if the subtitles are video based. The new app supports sending text subtitle to the player directly now. To force the video to transcode with any subtitle selection you need to change the subtitle option from auto to always burn.

During the first run there is instructions on the home screen that tell you to navigate to library by going up then right. But the developers are currently trying to determine how to make this more apparent and easier to follow for everyone.

This actually was one of the big reasons for recoding the Plex for Xbox One app into the new framework. Now that the app is part of the UWP framework the updates can be a lot faster. In addition to that, Moussa can create flight packages (like a test package) of the app that he can send to specific people to make sure that the problem they are reporting is fixed in the patch. These are things that couldn’t be done before, so at this time app updates should be a lot faster.
