Xbox One & Plex NAS Server - Navigating through films extremely slow

Hi, Any help is greatly appreciated.

Recently (~2 months) I have been experiencing issues where when selecting a film from the Xbox One applications dashboard - it takes approximately 20 seconds for the picture and backdrop to load, during which time the controller / remote becomes unresponsive.

I don’t believe I had this issue previously - and have tried uninstalling / reinstalling the app on Xbox. I have no issues when using the web interface (by pointing at the IP, not plex.tv), nor do I have an issue when using with iOS (iPad and chromecast), or with my Android phone.

I have attempted to troubleshoot by cleaning bundles, optimizing database, emptying trash and performing a reboot.

My server is a Synology 1815+ NAS, and there is plenty of free hard disk space, and resources are hugely under-utilised (except when transcoding 1080p). There is a memory upgrade over stock, plenty of space on 4TB drives and an SSD for caching so I doubt this is related to a lack of resource.

The devices are interconnected by CAT 6E cables and a 1Gbit LAN across a good spec Asus router - although there is QOS on the network - the issue seems specific to films - as TV series work just fine - therefore I believe it’s either a bug - or an issue with my Agents.

I have stripped down to basics by selecting only Freebase on the library, and have disabled all options around cinema trailers (upcoming) and movie trailers. Oddly - even with all options on the library disabling trailers - I still get the icon and can browse a list.

It seems to me as though the film info page hangs while it waits for something, either populating a list of trailers - or downloading the background image and dvd cover.

I hope somebody can explain to me why it’s specific to Xbox One - and how to go about fixing it, as it’s rather killing the experience of browsing for a movie (and Ideally I’d like to have the movie trailers and option to have cinematic trailers as these are great plex pass features).

Thanks,

I was having the same issue. Others too.

I’ve downgraded to 0.9.16.6.1993 which seems to be the latest version which doesn’t have the problem. You can find the previous versions you’ve installed by looking in the updates folder on your server. For me, using Windows Server, they are located here
%LOCALAPPDATA%\Plex Media Server\Updates.

I had to uninstall PLEX and then tried a few of the latest versions. I ended up having to go back to 0.9.16.6.1993 to fix the problem. Hopefully there will be an update soon to fix the issue.

Thanks bobmintola - oddly despite searching I couldn’t find that forum post so appreciate you linking. I’ll read thoroughly now.
