Hi all,
IMDB.com has a lot of music video entries these days. Years ago, they did not have any data for this. But nowadays they are classified as short films.
Here’s a simple example - Kylie Minogue: All the lovers.
I would like to have a library of music videos in Plex that treats them like films.
And if possible, gets the IMDB metadata. Not every music video on earth is on IMDB yet, but those that are sometimes have a cover image and some basic details. I want plex to get those.
So in theory Plex should retrieve them because it’s just like movie metadata.
However when I create a movie library, the data is not retrieved.
- I name tried naming the file “Kylie Minogue - All The Lovers (2010).mp4”
- I name tried naming the file “Kylie Minogue All The Lovers (2010).mp4”
- I have tried putting the file in a movie folder directly.
- I have tried putting it in a subfolder labeled “Kylie Minogue All The Lovers (2010)”
- I have even tried adding a Kylie Minogue All The Lovers (2010).nfo file inside that subfolder. This file is just text and contains “Kylie Minogue: All the Lovers (Music Video 2010) - IMDb”
None of these approaches works.
What am I doing wrong?
Please note: I don’t like the other official solution Plex currently has for music videos. Please don’t suggest it. I really just want to treat music videos as short films if possible - with both the artist name and the song name in the title of the film.
Thanks for any help.
