Hi there,
I am in the process of finishing up my music library migration to Plex. What I have left are about 50 different tracks that are one of DJ remixes. Most of these I would not expect to be in MusicBrainz.
What’s the best way to get these imported into Plex? I can validate the ID3 tag data for sure.
But, from a file folder structure how do I handle the normal Artist/Album/ structure if there is no actual album the track was released on?
Cheers
The mix is the “album”.
Make sure to put it into the same folder structure as your regular albums should be in.
music / album artist / album title / tracks
Embed proper meta tags which mirror the folder structure.
Use
DJ = Album Artist
Mix title = Album title
From the above follow s that you cannot collect all mixes in a common folder.
Each one must have it’s own folder, because each one is a different album for Plex.
Also, if they are not made by the same DJ, they must also be placed into different Artist folders.
Alternatively
If all mixes are made by the same DJ, you could also treat every mix as a different track of the same album.
However, this will result in an album with multiple hours or even days of playtime.
Loudness leveling won’t also work correctly, so I cannot recommend this approach.
Thanks Otto I will give that a try. Thanks so much. Battling to get the last of all my one off tracks into plex is going to be a long, long process.
