I have several TRIBUTE albums. I have them under a folder called ‘TRIBUTE’
but plex does the scans and puts them under some weird artists.

Is there one for tribute albums ?
If the album has tracks all by different artists then the Album Artist tag should be Various Artists.
All Various Artists albums should be in an artist folder named Various Artists.
In some cases it might be suitable to treat tribute albums as being released by the original artist. Particularly if every track has been contributed by a different artist.
If this is deviating from how the album is listed on Musicbrainz.org, you will have to enable “Prefer local metadata” in the properties of the music library.
But be advised that you better have the metatags of all your music in order, or doing so can have major unwanted consequences.
You’ll have to change the “Album Artist” meta tag in all tracks of that album,
and you’ll have to move it out of the “Various Artists” folder and into the folder that is named after the album artist.
In this example there might be some merit to change the album artist to “Depeche Mode”.

Apply the Album Artist meta tag.
Sort the albums into artist folders which follow the content of the Album Artist metatag.
In some cases, you may need to Plex Dance all involved albums, to resolve major mixups.
