Hello, I would like to hide a few users from my home “Select user” TV screen, because it’s inappropriate to show all of them to my kids. Please, how to manage it?
Remove them from your Plex Home.
Plex Home is intended for members of your own household, only.
For other users, use the regular ‘Share’ feature.
But then, they don’t have the same premium features, do they?
Of course not.
OK, so that’s not the solution
There is no other solution. Adding users to the Home will also enable Fast User Switching for all of them. That’s how it has been decided by Plex.
Granting Home users free access to the mobile Plex apps is considered fair and sensible – if they are members of the family.
But if they are not, they can buy their app for a one-time fee of $5. Software engineers want to eat as well.
OK, and is there a way to move a user from the home users group to friends without losing his account and stored data?
If the user in question has a full plex.tv account with own username and password, you can simply remove him from the home group.
Only a purely “managed user” (which uses the admin’s credentials and then ‘Switch User’ to authenticate in a Plex client) cannot be converted.
