I just wanted to ask wil this work on the nsa325v2 with a full normal debian os?
I have modified my nasbox and taken the origional firmware completly off it so was curious if this would still work and if so how well would it work streaming to remote clents? (mainly plex home theatre and android)
I installed Plex successfully on my ZyxelĀ NSA325 v2, Firmware 4.71. Everything was running smoothly: Plex imported my music as well as a sample video. I was also able to call the UI from my Amazon Fire TV as well as via Browser from my PC (both in the same intranet than the Zyxel), and to play my conent from there.
But since a couple of days playing my content is not possible anymore. If I choose the play button for example at an album, then the first title is shown correctly in the playbar (including its length etc), but playing does not start. Instead, after a few seconds the player moves on to the next title, and repeats the same behaviour.
Adding new content still works.
I already updated my Plex to the latest version, but this changed nothing on the behaviour.
Is this a known issue? Does anyone has a clue how to fix it? Or at least how to find out the root cause?
Cheers,
Ā Kane
Edit: I found a recurring error in the server log. I don't know if it belongs to the misbehaviour, but, I guess that's the case. Irritating for me is that this is about mp3 files, and it seems to me like plex wants to transcode this. As mentioned, my client is either a Chrome web browser on PC or FireTV, afaik both understand mp3 audio files.
Here is a sniplet of the log:

i just managed to put plex on a NSA325v2, but whenever i tried to play a video, i get the error that the server is not powerful enough. can please someone help me with this? thanks
Your clients have to support Direct Play or Direct Stream for the files hosted on your Zyxel. Video transcoding is not supported and that causes this error. If you want to use the web player make sure to enable the HTML5 player.
Ok, I have to look into that. I didnt think an .avi needed to transcode. Need to update HTML5 player to see if it works in my browser.
Now I have another problem. I cannot log on with PuTTy to start PMS (even though I thought I activated auto start). Iāve tried with admin and root (should be the same?) with all standard passwords I can think of including 1234. I havent set any PW my self since I first installed FFP and PMS.
Any suggestions? Iām noob at linux. How the hell can I reach the Zyxel-OS without putty?
i tried to play some mkv on a 2013 LG TV which does not have a plex client. it only recognize it as a new device. on this tv, it works perfectly. however, on a 2015 4k sony tv with android, using the plex client, it does not work. is there any chance that i can get this to work using the plex client on android tv? thank you
I have the NAS520 by Zyxel and am running into some issues - I have extracted the FFPstick zip file from this site and plugged it into the NAS, then cycled the power and restarted the software. The instructions, to me at least, then get a bit confusing. I see a bunch of files in the NAS file browser but after that point Iām lost.
I followed all the steps but it seems I cannot get if to establish a remote conenction, as anyone this issue?!
It looks like its not fecthing the NAS IP leaving it at " 1 : 32400 "

Hi Kane,
sorry to dig this old post, but iāve installed plex on my zyxel last week and iām facing the exact same behaviour. I could add movies to my library, played it but all of a sudden I get an error (no matter which client I use). Did you manage to solve this problem?Thank you
My server (running on a Zyxel 325v2) stopped working a few months back - not sure why - just seems to have stopped connecting. Is this an issue for anyone else (i.e. a wider Plex issue) - before I spend time and effort (and it takes me lots of both) trying to figure out whatās gone wrong.
Without knowing your particular PMS version and processor and log files, if the version is below 1.0.0, it is very likely itās reached the point of having lost compatibility with plex.tv
Iāve used Zyxel NSA325 to serve up Plex just fine for about 3 years. Then about 18 months ago I move PMS to an intel nuc with an i5 chip, and then just used the Zyxel for itās intended purpose ā a file server.
Now, when I access plex (web, roku, etc) I have the option to use the NSA325 install or the nuc install (the nuc is good as it will transcode on the fly whereas the NSA325 wonāt). PITA.
My question: How do I disable PMS on the Zyxel NSA325 without ruining everything else on the drives.
