Hello I am relatively new to Plex after having recently bought the Lifetime Pass in the Black Friday sale. I had a previous DVR/Media Server setup via Channels DVR and imported a few terabytes of shows and movies that I’d previously recorded there. I was able to set up the Commercial skipping for DVR content recorded in Plex and I found a support article with steps to enable that functionality on my other libraries. I have entered the advanced setting and set plex to scan all content for detecting commercials. By every setting I’ve found it would seem that plex should be detecting the commercials in the videos that I imported to my library, but it never works. I can’t find a single way to trigger plex to scan all these non plex DVR video files and do the commercial detection. Any advice would be appreciated
This activity should happen during the nightly server maintenance period. It will not do everything in one rush however. So it is expected that you don’t see the results of the analysis at once. With full library to go through, it might take a while until the analysis is done.
So make sure your server is switched on during the scheduled hours and has full access to the media files during this time as well.
