How do I setup Commercial Detection on Regular TV Libraries?

Using Commercial Detection on Regular TV Libraries
It’s also possible to enable the commercial detection to run for content in a regular TV library that was not recorded with the Plex DVR. You might be interested in that if you use a different DVR system.
Have a Plex DVR set up and configured on your Plex Media Server
In the DVR settings, the Remove Commercials preference must be set to Detect commercials and mark for skip
Edit the regular TV library and set the Ad detection preference under the Advanced tab to For all items

I don’t have a DVR on the system with the Plex server so it won’t let me change any of these settings. Is there an .ini or .config file I can just modify directly to turn this feature on? I already have donator version of comskip that generates the EDL files for me I just need plex to see them.

No. You need to set up the DVR feature in Plex.

Plex cannot read .edl files.
