How to make Plex server recognize Rasplex?

Hi all,

I’m relatively new to the whole Plex experience, so please be gentle.

  • I’m running Plex server on a 2014 Mac mini, v1.5.5.3634.
  • I have a Pi B+, with a 64GB class 10 Lexar card. I formatted it, and used the GetRasplex installer to load 1.8.0 onto the card.
  • I loaded the card into the Pi, connected the Pi via Ethernet, and supplied power. I do get a solid red light and the green blinks.

But Plex server does not recognize the Rasplex. I go to the LAN address of the Rasplex, but the request times out, I am unclear if there is supposed to be a LAN GUI for Rasplex? I’m pretty sure I’m missing a critical step here.

There is not a remote GUI for Rasplex, but there is a limited SSH command interface. You should connect Rasplex to an HDMI display and use the onscreen GUI to configure it.

That was it, thank you! Donation sent. Just playing with Rasplex for the first time, I have to say it’s rather brilliant and much more robust and configurable than I would have thought. And it even supports gapless FLAC audio playback via HDMI, very nice!

One further question if you don’t mind… I am using Hifiberry Digi on the Pi, but I don’t see any Audio output option to support the Digi. Is there something I can do or edit to make this output option available?

^^^ Update: I found the comments about Hifiberry, made the config.text changes, and it works!

For the Audio output device options, what is the difference between ALSA: Default (snd_rpi_hifiberry_digi) and ALSA: snd_rpi_hifiberrydigi ?
